Book an appointment on the shop's booking page

What it is

Many shops let you book your own appointment online. You open the shop's booking page from a link they share with you, pick what you want and when, leave your details and confirm. It takes a minute or two on your phone.

You do not need an account. Your name and phone number are enough. Some shops also show an information page with their services, hours, address and team. It has a Book an appointment button that takes you straight to the booking page.

Before you start

  1. The booking link from the shop. If the page says the link is missing something, ask the shop for their booking link again.
  2. Your name and a phone number you can answer.
  3. Optional: an email address, and a promo code if the shop gave you one.
  4. If the shop asks for a deposit, a way to pay it. You will see this on the last step.

Steps

  1. Open the booking link. You will see the shop's name and, usually, whether it is open right now and its hours. Everything is on one page that scrolls. The step you are on has a highlighted border, a step you have finished folds into a one-line summary with a Change link, and the steps still to come look faded.
  2. If you have been here before, type your phone number in the box that says Been here before? Enter your phone to skip ahead. If the shop recognises you, it offers your usual choice. See the one-tap rebook below. If not, just carry on.
  3. Under Service, choose what you want. Each service shows how long it takes and its price, and how much is due today if the shop asks for a deposit.
  4. Under With, choose who you want, or choose First available to get the earliest time with anyone. If only one person does that service, this step is skipped.
  5. Under When, pick a day, then a time. Each day shows how many spots are left. Times are grouped as Morning, Afternoon and Evening, and each group says who is available. A day marked Closed, Unavailable or Full has nothing to pick. On a Full day you can join a waitlist (see the article on joining a waitlist). If a time is shown with how many spots are left, that is for group classes. A quieter-hour discount may mark a day and show a lower price on an eligible time; businesses that hide prices do not show that amount.
  6. Under Your details, check the summary of what you picked (press Edit to change it), then fill in Name and Phone. Email (optional) is optional unless you choose to pay a deposit by OXXO cash, where the shop needs it to send you the voucher or receipt.
  7. Tick Send confirmations and reminders on WhatsApp (optional) if you want your messages there. You can leave it empty.
  8. If you have a promo code, type it in Promo code (optional).
  9. If a deposit is needed, you will see Due today and what is Due at the location. Choose how you pay, for example Card or OXXO cash, if more than one is offered.
  10. Press Book. If a deposit is needed the button says Pay & book instead. Under the button you may see until when you can cancel for free.

One-tap rebook for returning clients

If the shop recognises your phone and you have a past visit, you may see one of two offers after typing it:

  • Book again with (person), (day) at (time)? Press Book it to confirm that exact time. Press Pick a different time to choose another one with the same service and person.
  • Same as last time: (service) with (person)? Press Yes, same as last time to carry on with those choices, or No, pick something else to start fresh.

If the time you were offered has just been taken, you will not be booked. Pick another time from the list.

If you book with a clinic, practice or tutor

The page uses the words that fit the business: you pick an appointment type or a session type, and you choose a practitioner or a tutor. Some businesses do not show prices before you book; the service list then says Fee confirmed at your visit. If the business keeps treatments private, your confirmation may say Appointment instead of naming the service. A video visit says Online — link sent with confirmation instead of an address, and no map link is shown. If the business needs an intake form before your first visit, you are told on the details step and the confirmation page offers Fill in your intake form right away.

Booking several services together

After choosing a service, press Add another service (up to the most the business allows). Each service starts right after the one before, the same day. If one person does them all, choose The same person for everything; otherwise choose who for each one, or Any available. You only see times where they all fit back to back. You pay one deposit and get one confirmation and one reminder.

If booking is slow

When the incident notice is released, if a problem affects online booking, a notice at the top of the page may say so. You will be able to keep trying to book. If you cannot, the notice will give you the business's phone to call or message. If it says the deposit payment may fail, try again in a few minutes.

What happens next

You land on a page that says You're booked with your name. It shows the service, the day, the time, who you are with, when it finishes and the shop's address. A line says the confirmation was sent to your phone. If you asked for WhatsApp, reminders also go there.

On that page you can use Add to calendar, Directions, Manage this booking (your personal link to change or cancel, see the article on changing or cancelling) and Book your next visit. If you paid a deposit, it shows Paid now and what is still Due at the location. A deposit counts toward the cost of your service. If a payment is still pending, the page asks you to finish it and keeps your time held for you for a while.

If the appointment is for your child or someone in your care, choose Someone else on the details step. See the article on booking for your child.

Common mistakes

  • "That time just filled up." Someone booked it first. Pick another time from the updated list.
  • No times on a day. The shop may be closed or full. Try another day, or see the article on joining a waitlist.
  • You are offline. The page says you are offline and will not show times. Reconnect and try again.
  • Wrong phone number. Your confirmation goes there. Check it before you press Book.
  • Losing your manage link. Keep the confirmation. It is how you change or cancel later.
