Choose your business type and the words Zelun uses for your clients and team

Your business type tells Zelun what kind of business you run, so it can use the words that fit. A clinic talks about patients and practitioners, a tutor about students and tutors, a salon about clients and staff. You choose it once, when you sign up. There are five choices: Salon or spa, Clinic or practice, Tutor or coach, Made-to-order projects and Something else. Made-to-order projects is for workshops and businesses that measure, quote, build and install work made for each client: furniture, carpentry, kitchens, windows.

Changing the type of an existing business changes its words, not its data. The words switch at once in the admin (including the side menu), on your booking page and in the mobile apps. Message templates approved by WhatsApp or carriers keep their own wording. Your services, clients, prices and settings stay exactly as they are. When a new business is created, its type also determines its starter services and sections.

For a made-to-order business, the side-menu group that holds Quotes and Orders is called Projects. The order itself is still called Order, the same for you and your client. On the public booking page, the step that asks who is visiting reads Who is visiting you?.

The type also comes with suggestions: settings that usually suit that kind of business, such as showing prices on the booking page, or keeping clinical notes private. A suggestion is only a proposal. Zelun never turns a setting on or off because of your type. You decide each one.

1. Decide which of the five fits best. If none does, Something else keeps the generic words.
2. Only the owner can change the type after sign-up. Other team members can read it on the Business type card, but they do not get a Change button.
3. A company created before sign-up asked this question shows Not chosen yet and keeps the original words until its owner picks a type.

Choose it when you sign up

1. After your business name and country, the next step asks What does your business do?.
2. Pick a card. Each one lists examples and, under Starter services, the services Zelun will create for you. Under the cards, a line says which words you and your clients will see.
3. Press Continue to plan. You are not asked again at sign-up.
4. You can rename or delete every starter service later.

Read what your type does

1. Open My business. The Business section starts with the Business type card.
2. The card shows your type, the words your admin and booking page use, and under Suggested for your type each suggested setting with On or Off.

Change the type later (owner only)

1. On the Business type card, press Change.
2. Pick the new type. The box What happens says that the words switch in the admin, the booking page and reminders, and that services, clients, prices and settings stay as they are.
3. Press Switch and review settings. If the type has no suggestions, the button is Switch.
4. Zelun shows the suggested settings one at a time, with how many are left. For each one press Turn on, Turn off or Keep as it is. Nothing changes until you choose.
5. When you reach All set, press Done. You can come back later with Review suggested settings on the card.

What the suggestions are

• Salon or spa and Something else: Show prices on Public booking.
• Clinic or practice: Notes visible only to the treating practitioner, Reminders never name the treatment and Hide prices on Public booking. The first two are explained in the article on private notes and discreet reminders.
• Tutor or coach: nothing to suggest yet.
• Made-to-order projects: Show Quotes, Orders and Inventory. When you accept it, those three sections appear in the menu. If you signed up as made-to-order projects they are already visible, so this suggestion only appears when you switch to the type later.

• On your booking page and in reminders, they see the same words you chose, for example a patient is asked to Choose a practitioner.
• Switching the type does not change anything they have booked.
• If you turn on a suggestion, they see its effect: prices hidden on the booking page, or reminders that do not name the treatment.

• Expecting the type to change settings by itself. It only suggests. Prices, note visibility and reminders change only when you press Turn on or Turn off.
• Expecting a change to rename your services. The starter services keep the names Zelun gave them. The type changes how the product names things, not the names you typed.
• Looking for a Change button as a manager. Only the owner has it.
• Expecting to switch back and lose nothing. You can switch at any time, and your data stays. Settings you turned on during a review stay on until you turn them off.
• Expecting every screen to follow the type. The words follow it in the admin, the booking page and reminders. Names you wrote yourself always appear as you saved them.
• Starting values follow your type. At sign-up Zelun names the branch "Sucursal principal" and you "Propietario", creates your type's starter services (a tutor also gets a 6-seat "Group class" and a 60-minute "Online session") and hides the sections that type rarely uses. A made-to-order business gets three starter services: Measuring visit (60 minutes), Delivery (60 minutes) and Installation (4 hours), with no price until you set one, and starts with Quotes, Orders and Inventory visible. You can change everything later.
