Find your way around the admin: menu, groups, language and home screen
What it is
Zelun's admin always has the same layout: a side menu with the screens grouped by task and, next to it, the controls you use on any screen (switching location, the language, light or dark theme, your notifications and signing out). This article helps you place each one and explains which screen you land on when you sign in.
Before you start
You need to be signed in. What you see in the menu depends on your role and on what your business has switched on: not everyone sees every option.
Steps
The screen you land on
- When you enter the admin you arrive at today's Book: the diary of the last location you used in this browser or, if there is none, the first location you can reach.
- From there, switch location with the selector at the top (called Location, or whatever your business calls it) and get to the rest of the admin with the menu.
The groups in the side menu
Each group has a heading that is only a label; what you press are the items.
- Diary: Book, Schedule, your team and your clients.
- Comms: the message Inbox.
- Money: Expenses, Reports and Packages.
- Setup: My business, your locations, Inventory, WhatsApp, Video calls, Notifications, Support, Ideas and What’s new. Roles and Policies also appear here when your account can see them.
- If your business uses quotes and orders, a separate group gathers them: Quotes, Orders, Service requests and Order costs. Its heading, and the names for your team, your clients and your locations, follow the words of your business type.
- The Zelun people who give support also see a group of their own for Zelun; you do not see it.
What each person sees
- If you own the company you are in, you see My business, your locations, Inventory, Quotes and Orders, except for sections your business hid.
- If you are on the team without owning the company, you do not see My business, locations, Inventory, Quotes or Orders.
- With no company chosen, those items do not appear either.
- If your business is one person with one location, the menu is shorter: My hours takes the place of the team, the team schedule and the location settings are not shown, Invite someone appears, and Setup shows five entries plus More, which holds Video calls, Activity, Ideas, Inventory and, if your account can see them, Roles and Policies. As soon as you have a team or a second location, Setup goes back to the full list you know, with no More. The article about working alone explains it.
Controls always at hand
- Language: two small buttons, each with the short code of its language. Press one and the admin changes right there, without losing your place. It is remembered in this browser. See the interface language article.
- Toggle theme: switches between the light and dark look without leaving the screen.
- Notifications: the bell, with the number of unread alerts. When you open it you see the alerts newest first, can press Mark all as read and can go to Notification settings.
- Sign out.
- Skip to main content: appears when you move with the keyboard, to jump straight to the content without going through the menu.
On a phone
- The top bar shows only the Toggle navigation button, the Zelun mark, the bell and a compact location selector.
- Press Toggle navigation to open the menu; there you find Sign out, the language and the theme.
- At a medium screen size, the menu shrinks to a narrow column of icons with those same controls.
Help from any screen
The floating button with the question mark opens the guide for the screen you are on. See the article on getting help.
What your clients see
Your clients see none of this: the menu and the controls belong to your team's admin. Your booking page and the messages they receive do not change when you change the admin's language or theme.
Common mistakes
- Looking for an option you cannot see. Your role may not include it, or your business may have hidden that section; ask the owner to check the visible sections.
- Expecting the language or theme to follow your account. They are saved in the browser you use.
- Mistaking group headings for items. Diary, Money and Setup are only labels.
- Not finding the language or theme switch on a phone. They are inside the menu that Toggle navigation opens.
- Expecting to always land on the same location. You enter the one you used last.
